Here at Abivale Veterinary Group, we’re looking for a permanent night vet to join us. The role offers an excellent caseload focused on emergency and critical care, so this should be an area of practice that you’re confident in. The position will be a 7 on 14 off rota, working nights shifts. When on shift, you’ll be supported by a one of our fantastic night RVNs, who’ll work closely with you to ensure that the highest standards of both patient and client care are maintained. This position will be based exclusively at our main Abingdon site.
About Us
At Abivale we have a range of equipment including: ultrasound, x-ray, endoscope, dental x-ray and a lab where we do a variety of inhouse blood work. We are the 24-hour emergency care provider for the surrounding area and have a dedicated night team of vets and nurses. The main practice is in walking distance to the historic town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. We are 15minutes away from Oxford city centre, where there is lots of shops and restaurants and is a very beautiful city. One of the benefits of being based where we are is a fantastic array of transport links that can allow you to travel all over the UK.
Working Pattern
As mentioned, the rota will follow a 7 on 14 off pattern. Shifts will be Monday – Thursday (18:40 – 07:40), Friday (18:40 – 08:00), Saturday (18:00 – 09:00) and Sunday (18:00 – 07:40). Bank holidays will be 18:00 – 07:40.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
You are a highly experienced veterinary surgeon with strong clinical expertise and a passion for leadership and clinical excellence. You’ll bring:
A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS with significant experience in small or mixed animal practice, with advanced surgical and medical capability
Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and supporting veterinary colleagues
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Experience contributing to or leading clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
The ability to manage clinical complaints and provide professional guidance in complex situations
Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the highest standards of patient and client care
