As the Wards Clinical Team Leader, you will lead and manage a dedicated team of RVNs & ACAs across our Wards and OOHs teams.
Ensuring excellent patient care within the hospital, you will work closely with clinicians from all disciplines to deliver individualised, gold-standard care to hospitalised patients. Your role will also involve overseeing team workflow, ensuring procedures are completed in a timely manner and according to company SOPs. Additionally, you will support the development and training of your team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, while proactively managing staffing levels to meet service demand. We have dedicated kennels, cattery and ICU wards where we see a mixture of inpatients from our referral services, as well as cases from Swift Emergencies which is our first opinion emergency service.
Clinical nursing duties include a mixture of:
Post op patient care (soft tissue and orthopaedics)Complex medical cases including oncology patientsA varied OOH caseloadECC/intensive care casesPlacement and/or maintenance of central catheters, PICC lines, arterial lines etc.

Opened in 2019 and purpose-built to industry leading standards, Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary referral hospital offering the very best in veterinary excellence, all under one roof. We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery, housing world-class facilities on our premises from advanced imaging machines to specialist treatment and aftercare rooms. We have 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 Slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy and state-of-the-art operating theatres, and separate dog and cat wards.
We have a dedicated ECC and OOH centre which houses a large ICU for our critical patients, which is the hub of our Wards and OOHs teams. You'll benefit from the support of your fellow RVN Team Leaders in Medicine & Surgery, along with our Senior Wards Nurse who will assist with daily workflow and team leadership.
Is this the role for you?
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with established ECC & leadership experience, preferably in a hospital or OOHs environment. You will possess strong organisational and problem-solving skills, enabling you to manage workloads efficiently. You will be a compassionate and approachable leader, inspiring and developing your team while maintaining excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster professional relationships across the hospital. A commitment to delivering the highest standard of patient and client care, aligned with the values of IVC Evidensia, is essential. Our successful candidate will have a strong interest in inpatient care and ECC, and any further qualifications in this setting would be advantageous.
Working pattern
This is a full-time position. As this role line manages our day and night wards team, some OOH cover will be included to ensure crossover with your whole team. This will be supplemented with appropriate time off between shifts to enable you to enjoy a healthy work life balance. We are open to discussions about the shift pattern and will be happy to work with the right candidate to settle on something that works for you whilst meeting the needs of the team and the wider hospital. You will also partake in occasional weekends on a rota basis.
