We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Veterinary Referral Imaging / Rotating Nurse to join our multidisciplinary referral hospital on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a busy, dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care across a variety of specialist services.

The role combines two days per week within the imaging department with two days rotating across a range of specialist disciplines. You’ll gain exposure to Neurology, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Surgery and Wards, working alongside experienced clinicians and nursing teams across the hospital.

    How You’ll Make a Difference

     

    As a Imaging/Rotating Referral Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care within a specialist referral service, supporting the management of complex cases within your chosen clinical discipline.

     

    You’ll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within your discipline.

     

    Working Pattern

     
  •  38 hours per week - 4-day working week, with a non-fixed day off 
  •  1 in 6 weekends, working Saturday and Sunday from 7:45am to 6:00pm 
  •  Friday twilight shift from 3:00pm to midnight, with on-call responsibilities, approximately 1 in 8 weeks 
  •  Participation in the on-call, bank holiday and out-of-hours rota 
  •  

    Key Responsibilities

     
  •  Support anaesthesia, procedures and referral-level diagnostic imaging, including x-ray positioning 
  •  Carry out diagnostic sampling, laboratory work and patient monitoring, including ECG and blood pressure monitoring across species 
  •  Provide high standards of inpatient care and maintain effective infection control practices 
  •  Coordinate with clinicians and nursing teams to schedule procedures and support efficient patient workflow

    You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with who enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team and delivering high standards of referral care.  You’ll bring:

     
  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills relevant to your discipline
  • Experience working with complex medical or surgical cases in a referral or advanced-care setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
