We are looking for a surgical veterinary surgeon to join our group based in our main branch Summerhill Veterinary Centre.
Our ideal candidate will be someone with advanced surgical experience, having a surgical certificate would be an advantage.
The role would ideally be full-time working 40hr per week over 4 days, but we would consider part-time for the right candidate.
Our shift patterns are between 8am and 8pm Monday-Friday worked out on a fair rota basis.
Saturday shifts are shared evenly meaning you would work 1 in 5 Saturdays between 8am to 4pm.
There are no OOH or Bank Holidays as these are covered by our emergency care provider VetsNow.
Salary range is up to £65,000 depending on experience.
We are a well-established small animal practice and have been practicing for 60 years in the city of Newport, South Wales. Over this time, we have grown and now form part of a group of 10 Veterinary Surgeries, with Summerhill being our main hub. Our surgery has all the usual toys, including ultrasound scanner, endoscope, k-lazer, a well-equipped in-house laboratory, multi parameter, tonopen, digital x-ray and dental x-ray.
The clinic is situated just 10 minutes from the city centre of Newport, South Wales and is close to local amenities including Cardiff City Centre. Newport is home to one of the only working transporter bridges in the UK and Caerleon and the Roman Fortress Baths are just a 20-minute drive away.
We would be able to offer temporary accommodation in the form of a 3-story house opposite the clinic.
We have 25 FTE vets across South Wales. In our practice you would be working alongside a team of up to 8 vets, 5 registered veterinary nurses, plus student veterinary nurses and a well experienced reception team.
We have a number of certificate holders within our group which includes diagnostic imaging, surgical, medical and dermatology, enabling us to offer a strong support network.
We are looking for a veterinary surgeon who holds a surgical certificate and has small animal experience. You will be friendly, motivated and dedicated to providing a gold standard of veterinary care to our patients. You would be comfortable taking on routine and emergency consulting shifts, theatre shifts and inpatient care and be willing to accept internally referred surgical jobs from the other sites in our group.
Someone who would be willing to coach our Junior vets alongside our clinical directors and other senior vets would be a bonus.
