We provide experience and training for student vets

We've worked closely with vet schools, universities, veterinary sector professionals and our own practices to develop a structured Extra Mural Studies (EMS) programme that now runs across a number of our practices.

We're delighted to be the first national group to have launched such an initiative.

Frequently asked questions

Placements last for 2 weeks and can be done in years 3, 4 and 5 of your degree.
Sadly not. Our EMS programme is tailored to support vets with interests in small animals.
We’ll cover a wide array of clinical procedures, including communication, physical exams, routine surgery, blood sampling and aesthetic monitoring. All procedures will be taught on a ‘see one, assist one, do one’ basis – all with direct supervision.
You’ll have the support of the practice’s EMS coordinator. They’ll act as your clinical coach and will assist you with everything from meeting you on your first day to signing off your workbook when you finish.
