As Europe’s leading veterinary care provider, based across 17 countries including Canada, we invest in our people, premises and processes to provide exceptional veterinary care. With over 100 centres delivering referral care across the UK, we are committed to extending our services and building our teams, including the creation of additional clinical leadership roles.
Our phenomenal growth has led us to appoint three national discipline leads: John Williams for Surgery, Dan Lewis for ECC and Stephen Collins for Cardiology. We are now looking to further strengthen our team and recruit a
National Medicine Lead to continue to provide exceptional veterinary care to patients across the UK.
For a full description of what we are looking for, along with the brilliant benefits you can expect, take a look at the
details on our website.
Over the coming months, there is an intention to appoint a national lead to represent every discipline.
In addition to the national leads, we have also appointed Arlene Connor as Head of Clinical Operations (Hospitals) who leads on our referrals nursing strategy. The multi- faceted strategy aims to continuously support the referral veterinary nursing division, equipping referral veterinary nurses with the qualifications and knowledge to progress towards their preferred direction. Our ongoing commitment to developing people is also reflected in our investment in additional residency programmes supporting the development of the Diplomates of the future.
Alongside our established residency programmes at our large hospitals, we are creating an additional 25 new residencies throughout the group across a range of disciplines. Our online communities support our residents’ development with journal clubs and the opportunity to network with specialists across the whole group.
Amanda Boag, Chief Medical Officer, said, “We know the importance of career development for all our veterinary teams and we are fortunate to be part of a group where we can benefit from sharing knowledge and training opportunities. A shining example of this is our Research Fund. Available to all vets and nurses in all clinical sites, the fund provides valuable financial support to teams who have shown a growing appetite to challenge existing information and innovate within their fields. Our online research hub provides visibility of clinical research across the group; this platform fostering international and interdisciplinary collaboration can only lead to stronger science. This is just one aspect of our commitment to professional development and career progression.”
Not only do we invest in our people but also our sites. Throughout 2021, several of our UK referral centres underwent major refurbishment and extension works including Southern Counties Veterinary Services in Hampshire, Hamilton Specialist Referrals in Buckinghamshire, Vale Referrals in Gloucestershire and Swift Referrals in West Yorkshire.
Extended clinical services also include the addition of new diagnostic imaging suites, as well as CT scanners at Abington Park Referrals in Northamptonshire and Crown Vets Referrals in the north of Scotland, and a new MRI scanner at Rowe Referrals in the southwest of England.
As we continue to strengthen our teams, we dare to confidently pursue new developments during a time of much uncertainty. Expected to be open summer 2023, is the new multi-disciplinary hospital in Longbridge in the south of Birmingham. The hospital itself will provide specialist-led veterinary care for referrals, and a 24-hour emergency care service for pet owners in the local area. Included in the plans are several green and wellbeing initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, solar panels and extensive landscaped green space for clients and staff to enjoy.
Our
referral network forms an intrinsic part of our organisation. By increasingly engaging and utilising the expertise and insights of colleagues across Europe, we are growing the leading referral network within veterinary care. This ultimately enables us to facilitate excellent animal care consistently while also developing strong relationships with clients and referring vets.
The rapid expansion of our referral network has required us to adapt and innovate. Changes to our sustainability model are guided by our
‘Positive Pawprint’ strategy which aims to protect the health and happiness of people and their pets, whilst reducing the group’s environmental impact. As our network grows so too does our ability to take the positive steps towards developing and delivering a sustainable group we are proud of.
As we continue to grow our referrals network, we are committed to offering an extensive company-wide benefits package including a competitive salary, discounted pet care and a generous holiday allowance.
