An IVC Evidensia
Community Grant has been awarded to Moorview Referrals to help them support local animal rescue centre, Dogs First Rescue. This volunteer-led charity specialises in rehoming dogs and running a pet food bank.
IVC Evidensia aims to play an active and positive role within the communities in which it operates, and its Community Grants program is designed to help facilitate this by supporting initiatives that make a real difference.
Each IVC Evidensia practice, crematorium or central team can apply for grant of £1,000 every year. Grants can be used to make a donation to a local charity or good cause, which may be one supporting animal welfare or one of wider relevance to the local community, for example a. local school or community foodbank.
Moorview Referrals, based in Northumberland, is a small-animal referral practice. The multidisciplinary team provide emergency and out-of-hours care, with departments including surgical, neurological, internal medicine, and emergency critical care.
The team at the practice have recently had their Community Grant application accepted and will be donating to Dogs First Rescue in Cramlington. This injection of much-needed cash will help the animal rescue centre continue to rehome dogs from various backgrounds, ensuring they find their forever homes.
The animal rescue also runs a pet food bank to help those struggling to provide for their pets as well as providing temporary foster homes to dogs when owners are unable to care for them.
Moorview Referrals Emergency and Critical Care Team Leader Christine Head, said: “We chose to support Dogs First Rescue as they provide a fantastic service to the local community and beyond, traveling hundreds of miles to ensure that the dogs under their care find their forever homes as well as helping those who are struggling to look after their dogs.”
Talking about the grant and the positive impact it will have, Christine added: “Community Grants are an important initiative as they allow the practice to have a positive impact on the local community and build good relationships.
“ The grant will help with Dogs First Rescue continue to provide veterinary care to dogs in need, as well as help keep their vans on the road.”
