Isle Vet Nurse wins double honours at National SQP Awards 2022

November 30, 2022

An IVC Evidensia vet nurse was honoured recently at the National SQP Awards; a ceremony that highlights the SQP qualification and celebrates its positive impact on the veterinary industry.

Keri Whitwell, who works as a vet nurse at Isle Veterinary Group in Ely, Cambridgeshire, won Equine SQP of the Year and National SQP of the Year at the awards ceremony, which took place at One Moorgate Place, home of the Chartered Accountants’ Hall, a historic grade-II listed venue in London.

The SQP qualification unlocks new professional avenues for vet nurses as they are empowered to dispense and control the supply of medicines, and the awards highlight the very best SQPs in the UK alongside the practices that utilise the qualification.

Awards were also handed out for Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Customer Service, Store Manager and Newly Qualified SQP, amongst many others.

Keri commented on the importance of the awards and what the recognition meant to her when she won:

"Registered Animal Medicines Advisors (otherwise known as RAMA’s or SQP’s) and the businesses they work for play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the health of animals.

“The SQP Awards recognise and reward hard work, dedication and the expertise of those within the industry and so it is a privilege to be named National SQP of the Year 2022 and National Equine SQP of the Year 2022. It felt surreal receiving the awards and is a great achievement for my career.

“I strongly believe that the role of SQP's and Veterinary Nurses within veterinary practices is invaluable and beneficial in multiple ways; professionals within the industry strive to work collectively in providing accurate guidance and the provision of care to our patients.

“Being an SQP compliments my role as a Veterinary Nurse and enables me to enhance my contributions to the practice and to clients."
