Join DoddieVet 2026 to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease

December 18, 2025

My Name’5 Doddie Foundation is calling for veterinary practices to take part in a charity challenge this January in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

As we head into the festive period, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has given veterinary professionals across the UK the perfect moment to set a January goal that can make a positive impact on the lives of others.

What is the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation?

Founded by Doddie Weir OBE in 2017, the charity aims to support those living with MND and seek a cure for this disease. This year alone My Name’5 Doddie has donated £2 million to research labs across the UK, helping specialists develop and test new treatments.

As part of their work, they also hold an annual ‘DoddieAid’, a personal or team exercise challenge to log as many miles possible across January. Participants can choose to run, cycle, swim, dance, walk and more, and set themselves a target to reach during the month while raising money for the cause.

Join the DoddieVet league

In support of DoddieAid, Beth Sweeney, Vet Surgeon at Kilbarchan Vets, set up DoddieVet, a league made up of veterinary practice teams who compete between each other across the five weeks.

The DoddieVet campaign is an opportunity for practices to get creative, build team morale and enjoy the outdoors, with the winner awarded the DoddieVet cup and hamper. With the support of IVC Evidensia and partners, Beth also offers weekly prizes to top performing teams, which have previously included a DUALIT coffee machine and a Sony Bluetooth speaker.

This year, 38 practices took part, raising £8500 for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Now in its fourth year, DoddieVet 2026 aims to unite even more veterinary practices to join and grow the league.

If your practice is interested in taking part, please register with Beth via email: elizabeth.sweeney@kilbarchanvets.co.uk

For more information, please read the flyer here and feel free to share with your neighbouring practice teams.
