Community Grants Fund contributes over £113,000 to 121 charities in the UK

December 18, 2023

After launching in December 2021, the IVC Evidensia Community Grants Fund has continued to contribute to charitable fundraising in practices up and down the UK, and 2023 has been no exception.

The team are happy to report that in the period between October 2022 and September 2023, this has led to over £113,000 being donated to local charities.

The Community Grants Fund in the UK has been responsible for contributing to 121 charities in total, which have been nominated by 89 separate practices.

Grants of up to £1000 are available upon nomination, which can be put forwards by an IVC Evidensia colleague who would like to raise money for a local charity or a not-for-profit organisation.

It is an initiative open to all Clinic Groups and Central Teams across IVC Evidensia, including overseas territories such as France, Canada, Sweden, Ireland and Germany, to name a few.

Sarah Heath, Group Director of Sustainability and ESG, commented:

“The continued effort by so many of our colleagues to raise money for local charities is always so heartwarming to see, especially given the huge workloads they have in practice to start off with.

“I’m proud to be part of a veterinary community that looks out for local causes and endeavours to give back to others, especially those less fortunate than themselves.

“The Community Grants Fund continues to champion fundraising initiatives across the group and the figures show that their generous efforts have only increased year-on-year.”

Below are just a few examples of how the Community Fund contributions have been utilised.

Barns Animal Rescue – Rathgael Veterinary Clinic

Rathgeal Veterinary Clinic in Northern Ireland has supported Barns Animal Rescue (pictured), who rescues cruelly treated or abandoned animals and arranges foster homes and adoption once rehabilitated.
Jane Reilly and the team nominated this charity because:

“The team at Rathgael all enjoy working with The Barn. We regularly do fundraisers for the charity using our own time and effort. We have raised money carol-singing for 2 years and have auctioned off our own artworks.

“The staff are always giving above and beyond the call of duty, taking very sick animals home in the evenings and fostering pregnant cats and poorly puppies and kittens. It also came to light that the proprietor of the rescue has recently had a heart attack and we hope they have a speedy recovery.”

The Community Grants Fund contributed an additional £1000 to their efforts and allowed the team at Rathgael to stretch their fundraising even further.

Ripples of Compassion - SOC Legal & Company Secretary Team

Amber Golding in the SOC Legal & Company Secretary Team nominated Ripples of Compassion, which is a charity providing support for families with children suffering from cancer.

The charity works with hospitals and hospices to provide support for families including supplying meals at hospitals, bereavement therapy and keepsake boxes.

Amber said: “These charities have been extremely helpful to my sister after the death of her 8-week- old baby girl Olive. I think that the grant you could give to these charities would be tremendously helpful to those like my sister, who needed the support that these charities gave during such a hard time in her life.”

IVC Evidensia were able to add another £1000 to Amber’s fundraising total, meaning that they could provide even more support to those families.
