The Future Vets Collective is a new network to support veterinary students from ethnic minority backgrounds. This initiative forms part of our wider commitment to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging as we work to improve ethnic diversity across the veterinary profession and within our business.
 

The Collective aims to uplift racially marginalised groups by creating a close support network of peers, built on three pillars of Belonging, Connection and Opportunity. Led by the inspiring vet care Ethnic Diversity Board, the Collective provides year-round opportunities, including practical training, mentorship, and networking to help students prepare for the start of their career as a vet.  

We believe in a level playing field for all in the veterinary industry, which is why we've launched the Future Vets Collective.
  

Historically, the veterinary profession hugely underrepresents ethnic minority groups in the UK, and the last decade has continued to see slow improvement in diversity. Reports show that Black and Ethnic Minority groups still make up less than 5% of the veterinary profession (RCVS, 2024). 
 

Since 2022, the inspiring vet care Ethnic Diversity Scholarship Scheme has been supporting students from diverse backgrounds as they start their veterinary careers. The launch of the Future Vets Collective seeks to build on these foundations and extend this vital support to a wider range of students.
