Care Frameworks improve care for 100,000 animals

January 16, 2026

IVC Evidensia is proud to share a significant milestone in helping improve care for 100,000 animals with Care Frameworks.

Care Frameworks were developed as practical point-of-care tools designed by and for first opinion teams and supported by researchers and experts across the Group. Since then, IVC Evidensia have built something truly impactful, having grown Care Frameworks into the world’s largest quality improvement project

What is the aim of Care Frameworks?

Spearheaded by Laura Playforth, Group Quality Improvement Director, the aim has always been simple: “to make it easier for teams to deliver the best, most consistent care on a busy day, by turning evidence into clear, practical actions that work in first-opinion practice.”

Throughout the process, Care Frameworks have always striven to support clinical judgement without compromising on the individual needs of the client and their patient.

What inspired Care Frameworks?

The inspiration came from a clear care gap recognised by many clinicians, enabling a whole-team approach to focus on delivering the best outcomes for the pet.

“The evidence is there, but it can be hard to apply consistently when you’re juggling time pressures, variation in cases, and different team roles.” Laura continues.

Care Frameworks reach 100,000 animals

Today, with 23 published Care Frameworks, the collective effort of IVC Evidensia’s clinical teams has led to achieving a significant milestone.

We are incredibly thrilled to share that we’ve improved care for 100,000 animals with Care Frameworks!

“Reaching 100,000 animals receiving better care through Care Frameworks in the UK is a huge milestone, and it’s down to clinic teams choosing, day after day, to put consistent evidence-based care into practice,” Laura shares.

“What I’m proudest of is that this isn’t a one-off campaign, it’s becoming part of how we work, across different conditions, in lots of different types of practice in many different countries.”

Growing Care Frameworks

Looking ahead, Laura’s goal is to build momentum on this success and continue utilising real-world input to ensure frameworks remain practical and patient focused.

“We want to expand into new clinical and species areas, keep refining the tools based on team feedback, and use benchmarking to help practices see what’s working and where support is needed.”
