Martin McGovern, Practice Manager at Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic in Ballymena, has been announced as Petplan’s Practice Manager of the Year 2020.
The independent judging panel had the mammoth task of narrowing down this year’s 37,000 nominations to just four finalists in each category. Despite stiff competition from across the UK, Martin who has been Practice Manager at Fenaghy for over two years won out!
Known as “the glue in the practice” he is described by members of the Fenaghy Vets team as always thinking about the practice and making others feel valued and motivated. With him also being a firm favourite of local pet owners who also nominated him for the award.
About Practice Manager, Martin
His favourite thing about working at the vets is the whole team working towards one goal of putting their clients and pets first. However, being nominated and then going on to win the award came as rather a shock to him – but not so much to his colleagues though.
“I was really surprised, but absolutely thrilled and honoured to have received the award. I’m so grateful to all our clients who make doing my job so enjoyable and rewarding” said Martin.
Usually nominees are treated to a black tie awards presentation, but after this was postponed in April, members of the veterinary profession joined the
Petplan awards ceremony on Facebook instead, in an event which was hosted by writer, broadcaster, actor and former MP, Gyles Brandreth.
Andy Hillen, Clinical Director for both Fenaghy Vets practices in Antrim and Ballymena, said “We are all so delighted for Martin, he is one of the nicest people I know and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be helping him appropriately celebrate this phenomenal recognition of his hard work as soon as the current situation allows”.
