Where supporting farming communities meets excellent veterinary care
Search jobsOur farm vets are embedded members of their communities, they don't just treat sick animals but also engage with farmers about how to keep their animals healthy in the long run. By engaging with our farm clients through regular meetings and proactive work our vets are encouraged to develop their own clinical interests.
With over 50 farm sites in 2021 and continued growth since, IVC Evidensia Farm Vets embodies a wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication to the farming profession. Supported by a collaborative group, we are proud to be recognised as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking veterinary farm businesses, offering rewarding opportunities now and into the future.
Being a farm vet is more than just a profession; it's a commitment to the well-being of both animals and the communities they support. Farm vets play a crucial role in ensuring the health and productivity of livestock, working closely with farmers to prevent diseases, provide medical care, and promote sustainable practices. They are trusted advisors who not only treat sick animals but also offer invaluable guidance on maintaining long-term animal health and welfare. With a deep understanding of agricultural systems and a passion for animal care, farm vets epitomise dedication, compassion, and expertise in their field.
Duties of a farm vet can include:
- Conducting regular health checks and examinations on livestock
- Diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries in farm animals
- Providing vaccinations and preventive care to prevent diseases
- Advising farmers on nutrition, breeding practices, and herd management
- Assisting with reproductive services such as artificial insemination and pregnancy checks
- Performing surgeries and emergency medical interventions when necessary
- Collaborating with farmers to develop herd health plans and disease prevention strategies
- Educating farmers on best practices for animal welfare and husbandry
- Staying up-to-date on advancements in veterinary medicine and agricultural science
- Foster positive relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor in the farming community.
Farm 24 is IVC Evidensia’s innovative new approach to farm vet out-of-hours service provision, supporting our farm vets to work flexibly and in a way that works for them.
Following the hugely successful approach to dedicated out-of-hours services pioneered by Vets Now (part of IVC Evidensia) Farm 24 takes the night shift requirement away from daytime staff, with overnight emergency farm vets coming instead from the Farm 24 service.
Farm 24 offers support for the well-being and work/life balance of all our farm vets, and ensures a continuous, high-quality level of care to the local farming community.
Currently trialling in Shropshire, Farm 24 is set to be the new approach to out-of-hours service provision.
