Glenshane Veterinary Clinic has an exciting opportunity for a Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team at our Maghera, Kilrea, and Dungiven branches!
This role is perfect for a Veterinary Surgeon interested in working within a mixed dairy, beef, and sheep practice. If you have a passion for small animals, there’s also the option to include small animal work in your role.
We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with a focus on farm work, ideally with 1+ years of experience. Since you’ll regularly visit our farm clients, a valid driving license is essential.
About Glenshane Veterinary Clinic
We are a team of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 of whom have over 20 years of experience, supported by a dedicated Veterinary Nursing and Support team. Our 3-branch practice is located at the foot of the beautiful Sperrin Mountains. Two of our branches have farm animal handling facilities, and our main branch is well-equipped with everything needed for both farm and small animal care, including easy scan, small animal ultrasound, IDEXX lab station, X-ray, endoscope, ECG, and more.
With over 50 years of farm practice experience, we handle a good mix of dairy, beef, and sheep work. Our farm services include routine health checks, surgery, emergency work, and TB testing. We pride ourselves on a "can-do" attitude, and our experienced team is always here to support each other. Many of our clients have been with us for years, contributing to the practice’s family feel.
We care about your work life balance
We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that works for all team members.
The standard full-time vet rota consists of a 40-hour week, working 1 weekend in 4 with a long weekend off in lieu the following week. There is an OOH requirement to work 1 night per week on call, in the winter months and 1 night per week every fortnight, in summer months. Although this is advertised as a full-time role, we are open to both full time and part time applications.
Life Beyond Work

For nature lovers, the North of Ireland offers stunning scenery, including the nearby North Coast and the famous Giant’s Causeway, just a 45-minute drive away.
If you’re after some city life, Derry and Belfast are only 40 minutes away, and the nearest airport is just 30 minutes from us.
