Sam is the Head Nurse of Medical & Surgical Referrals at Rowe Referrals in Bristol, qualifying in 2008 with a BSc(Hons) in Veterinary Nursing Science from Hartpury College. She also completed the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough college in 2013.
Previously as the head nurse of the busy first opinion hospital, she was heavily involved in the development of our referral practice so have experience in both a first opinion and referral setting. Her specific interests centre around surgical nursing, in particular wound management, advanced imaging and anaesthesia. She lectures nationally in surgical nursing, enjoys writing papers for journals and sits on the editorial board for The Veterinary Nurse.
Her role on the Nurse Board allows her to help advise and assist with the development of veterinary nursing within IVC Evidensia and continue to ensure nurses are valued and heard within the veterinary team. Away from work, she enjoys ultramarathons and riding her horse through the Wye Valley where she lives.
